5 Ways To Say No Without Feeling Guilty

YOU ARE ALLOWED TO SAY NO... but you may need some help getting started if this is difficult for you. It all boils down to the concept of self-worth and believing that your time is of value to YOU. When you are constantly saying yes to everyone else and putting yourself at the bottom of your own priority list, you will be the loser in your own life.
Here are some tips to get started.

TIP 1

Rather than thinking about saying NO to others... re-frame it to think about saying YES to yourself. This simple switch will reduce the guilt trip. The moment you take yourself more seriously and value your own priorities and goals to achieve each day, others will start taking you more seriously as well. You teach others how to treat you, so if you want a different result to always feeling like the doormat-take different action

TIP 2

SIMPLY - get over yourself! Harsh but true. Stop thinking that you need to be all things to all people. Whilst this seems wonderfully generous, you will come off second best and land up having nothing to offer. This will lead directly to the idea that you do not value yourself in the equation, and every time you say yes to others when you really ought to be saying no, you will land up feeling resentful, angry, used and taken advantage of. So give up this need to feel bad about yourself and to make you feel needed and important through being everything to everyone and nothing to yourself.

TIP 3

Use a buffer line as a standard response from now on when still learning the art of saying no. Try this out for practice... when someone asks you to do something, you can say; "I would love to help you out but I need to check my diary and I will get back to you tomorrow". That way you do not say YES as your standard answer, and create a pause for you to assess if you want to do it or not. Be aware you normally say YES out of habit.

TIP 4

Never say an outright NO as this can feel horribly foreign to you and rude to the other person. So always start your answer with "I would love to but am unable to right now". And remember that you do not ever need to give reasons or excuses as to why you cannot do something for someone else... give up the need to justify your life.

TIP 5

Have patience with yourself. Just because you want to say no doesn't make it easy!. Remember you are learning a new skill that's foreign to you. It can help to acknowledge the following - "even though it is really difficult for me to say no without feeling guilty, I am going to value myself enough to say no anyway" This can help you remember you are chartering new territory and the moment you do NOT expect it to be easy every time, it will help you keep moving forward. In no time at all it will become second nature for you to discern when to say yes and when to say no from your inner guidance as opposed to guilt and habit.

So go out and practice, practice, practice, and let me know how you do with this new skill!!

Relax! Everything Happens in Your Life For a Reason

Do you know that what each of us desires and needs is to be acknowledged, accepted, and validated for exactly who, what, and where we are in our lives at any given moment?
To emphasize this, try reading this out loud:
"I am amazing, beautiful, and wholly perfect exactly the way I am and exactly where I am right now. Everything in my life is happening for a reason and is working out perfectly. I am on my own perfect, unique path of evolution and experience. All the good and all the bad, all the wins and all the losses, all the ups and all the downs. It's all part of me and my perfect life - EXACTLY the way I am and it is."
Doesn't that feel good? Now, imagine saying this to someone else. People are starving for acknowledgement and acceptance, including ourselves. I accept and fully acknowledge you for being your amazing, beautiful self, EXACTLY as you are, and I encourage you to do the same, for yourself AND others.
In this article, we explore how it's true that our lives are perfectly unfolding, and how embracing this fact is one of the most powerful things we can do for experiencing our mojo. We will also look at one of the most common beliefs that keeps us from doing this.
Here's a great place to start: embrace exactly where you are as perfect for you at this moment of your life. You can enact a feeling of appreciation, gratitude, and even love, for who, what, and where you are in life. You do this because it is the most powerful way to relate to any moment you experience. Why is this? Because doing anything else is resisting the moment. By definition if you are not embracing or allowing, you are resisting, and this removes you from the present moment. It keeps you in a nonexistent fantasy world where the "problem" doesn't exist and therefore this perpetuates whatever it is you are resisting.
Think of the game we call "Tug-Of-War." For that game to work it requires both sides resisting the energy of the other. As soon as one side stops resisting - boom! - game over - there is no game. This is exactly what happens in your life. You stop playing the game (resisting) and the game is over. While resisting you have no choice, you have to exert a large amount of effort to try to overcome your opponent. When you stop resisting you create options. In the game of tug-of-war if you let go, your opponent will fall on their bum, and at that moment you could walk away, you could walk over and offer a helping hand up, or any number of actions. You are free from the struggle, effort-full, and time-wasting game of resistance.
There is another powerful reason to begin embracing exactly where you are as perfect for you in your life at this time: it is a very high realization, and affirmation, of the divine perfection of the Universe. When you resist where you are in your life, you are basically saying "there is something wrong with reality, it should be different than it is. I know how it should be and this is not it." Talk about passing negative judgment on reality! Again, this is resistance to reality and will only cause struggle.
Very often people believe embracing the moment, their experience, or their life exactly as it IS, means they must capitulate, give up, and not care anymore. This would then mean the likely perpetuation of the undesirable situation or experience. If this is true for you, notice you believe that resistance and negative judgment of something is necessary before you can change it. Consider it a new way: change can happen from acceptance and non-resistance. Just because you accept and embrace something, does not mean you want it and have to perpetuate it. These are two totally different things. Come to realize that you can totally accept and embrace something, AND work to change it. Come to realize the most powerful change is sourced from acceptance, not resistance.
There is never anything wrong, no matter how it may look, there is always opportunity in every challenge, and in hindsight, everything is always working out.
Hasn't everything happened in your life for a reason? Hasn't it all turned out and made you who you are at this point in time? And if it looks like it hasn't "all turned out" I can practically guarantee it will over time. So if it's true that everything is always turning out - no matter how it may look - then it's fair to say that your life is turning out right now, and is in each and every moment. In fact, it never is not turning out. So relax, trust this fact, and allow your life to just turn out!
Try this:
"the supreme law of our divine nature determines perfectly our relations with each being and with the totality of the universe, it also reveals the exact rhythm of the direct expression of the Divine in us."
~ Sri Aurobindo
Get out a blank sheet of paper and write down everything you are grateful for in your life. Do this until you can't think of anything else. I bet you'll be surprised at just how much great stuff there is in your life and just how much you take that for granted every day. Notice how you feel after doing this exercise.

10 Killer Ways to Kill Body Fat

1. Your lifestyle - before setting a goal, consider the extent to which you can increase your physical activity in a sustainable way and the kinds of dietary changes you can stick with over the long haul. Your habits are critical to what you can achieve with weight control - and whether you can sustain it. It is about changing the way you eat and getting more active!

2. Give new habits time - weight loss and change doesn't happen overnight. It often takes 6 months for revamped eating and exercise habits to feel natural or almost automatic. Make it a point to make one small change daily, like eating 2 more serves of veggies, eating less treats or going for that run today. A change a day should be your aim.

3. View sweet treats wisely. If you want to shed pounds, you can't have big calorie sweets - cakes, cookies or candy - whenever you like. Find a low calorie substitute that you can have every day or better still, impose a once a week limit on the rich desserts.

4. Whole grains - like bulgur, amaranth, buckwheat and barley - are delicious and healthy. New nutrition studies revealed that they cut heart disease risk by 21 percent and diabetes risk by 30 percent, and that antioxidants in grains reduce inflammation in the body, protecting against diseases like asthma and arthritis. What's more, they're rich in fiber and B vitamins. And on top of all that, whole grains are digested slowly, so they keep you fuller longer, helping you keep your weight in check.

5. What you need in your everyday meal - fiber, protein, carbs and good fat. The rule of thumb - the more natural the food, the more wholesome it is for you. Foods like fruits, veggies, fish, poultry and wholemeal foods are all great.

6. Don't Super-Size the food. It may sound like a great deal to get fries for an extra dollar, or the jumbo smoothie for a quarter more - but switching from a large order of fries to a medium, for example, can save you 100 calories! And when at home serving dinner, put away those jumbo dinner plates, instead go for salad sized plates, and no more.

7. Plan to have 6 health meals a day - but eat in controlled portions, say 1 plate serve only. Load your plate up with plenty of veggies and lea meat! And get your dose of fruits in between!

8. Get moving - any exercise is a good start. Once you start to build up your fitness, you'll be amazed at how quickly you feel the benefits of a healthier body. You'll have a lot more spring in your step, and the compliments you'll get will have you wanting to step out even more.

9. The Best Workout to lose lots of weight - Turbulence Training! Why? It's short (around 45 minutes), very effective, can be done at home and designed with research proven workouts to help you lose body fat and build muscle at the same time. Best of all, the total body workout are suited for both men and women - and doesn't require any fancy equipment.

10. Post your mission online - create a blog featuring your picture and announce your intentions to get in shape. Post a link in a fitness forum, and challenge yourself for the whole world to see. That way, you are made accountable for your own actions. And promise yourself to upload a new picture each week - create additional pressure to finish the job!

How to Lose Face Fat AND a Double Chin (PART 2)

Fat on the face can make the skin appear lose and saggy. To give it a toned look, one needs to do cardio exercises regularly. Walking or running on the treadmill, cycling and doing aerobic exercises are some of the best ways to get the appealing display of cheekbones. For the best results two minutes of walking must be alternated with two minutes of running on the treadmill.

A high carbohydrate diet does more harm to a person’s body. Not only does it result in weight gain but also makes a person feel lethargic and drowsy, bringing his activity levels.

How to Lose Double Chin

• Throw your head backwards gently till you feel a strain on neck. Push your lower jaw forward and backward. This must be done whenever you are exercising or whenever you get the time, as many times as you can.

• Check your posture while sitting or standing, as an improper posture can also be the reason behind a double chin.

If done regularly, these exercise which are simple to follow, can help in defining the frame of a person’s face by making his cheekbones and jaw line more prominent

How to Lose Face Fat (PART 1)

Lose Face Fat Step 1: Drink lots of water.

You have to drink lots of water to stay hydrated. Drink at least nine 8-ounce glasses of water a day. Drink more than that if you are an active person and always exposed to the sun. The thing is our body has a natural protective system. When you do not drink enough water, the body will naturally think that you are stranded in a dessert and have not enough water. As a result, it will store as much water as it can to keep you living and there is when you will get bloated. Vice versa, if you drink enough water, the body will flush out all the unnecessary water because it knows that the system has enough water. Stick to plain water. Sodas and sugared drink would not help because they contain sugar and will lead to bloating too.

Lose Face Fat Step 2: Do not forget your fruits and vegetables!

Stay natural and eat at least three servings of fruits and three servings of vegetables every day. This will not only fill you up with less calories and help you stay way from junk food, fruits and vegetables also contains water that can help you stay hydrated. Plus, they are filled with fiber that gives many health benefits. Make your self a healthy fruit salad for snack instead of a chocolate bar. Choose your fruits carefully though; control the amount of bananas, grapes and pineapples because they are high in fructose. Go for apples, oranges, all sorts of berries and grapefruit because they are low GI carbs and they packed full with anti oxidants.

Lose Face Fat Step 3: Reduce the alcohol
It does not matter what alcohol you drink. Wine, brandy or beer, alcohol is still alcohol. Alcohol can cause a good amount of bloating in the body because it really dehydrates the body. It can also add inches in you belly and under your chin because one gram of alcohol contains seven calories! That is almost like drinking fat! A five ounce glass of wine has 100 calories, that means a little drinking a little bit can add inches in your waist.
Lose Face Fat Step 4: Bump up the calcium

A lot of studies have proven that taking at least 1200 milligrams of calcium from dairy if possible daily can help in fat loss. There is also a study that showed that half of the females in that study experienced reduced symptoms of PMS including water retention after consuming 1200 milligrams of calcium. So, do not eliminate dairy in your diet, have some in moderation.

Lose Face Fat Step 5: Calories out more than calories in.

This is the golden rule of fat loss. In order to lose weight, you have burn more calories than you consume. So, the easy and healthy way to do this is to burn 250 calories and reduce 250 calories from your food intake. The reason to reduce 500 calories a day is because we need to hit a reduction of 3500 calories a week and that will result to healthy recommended weight loss of one pound of body fat per week.
To burn 250 calories, just go for a simple walk or jog for 30 to 40 minutes. To reduce 250 calories, just eliminate all the junk food and excess fatty foods from your diet right now and I am sure you can reduce 250 calories. Eat healthy and eat with a mind to feed your muscles and body with good fuel!

Lose Face Fat Step 6: Control Your Salt Intake

Salt is another culprit of water retention. That is why when you snack with junk food that is high in sodium, you will feel every thirsty and your face will bloat up the next day. Avoid foods like pizza, burgers, junk food, chips and other similar foods because they are loaded with salt! When eating out, be careful of the gravy, some gravy use a lot of salt. Eat home and prepare your own food when ever possible! Sprinkle your salt, do not use your spoon, that way you can really control the amount of salt that goes into your food!

Lose Face Fat Step 7: Go For Weight Training

You have to weight train to maintain and increase lean muscle tissue. With more muscles packed in your body, your metabolism will increase and you can burn more calories and fat! Plus, with more muscles in your body, you can burn more calories while you do your cardio and even while rest because muscles are living tissues and require calories to function and survive! For optimum fat loss results and to lose fat on your face, you have to diet, do your cardio and also weight train.

So, if you want to lose fat on your face, the main objective is to lose weight. By losing body fat, you will look much leaner and have a much more cut features because fat and water under the skin is reduced

Chapped Lips – Causes, Symptoms and Treatment Tips

Chapped lips are the result of our lips being too dry. Chronic chapped lips can result from nutritional deficiencies and dehydration, or over exposure to sun or cold and windy conditions. The explanation for severe and chronic dry lips is that our skin has lost its moisture retention capacity. As a consequence, our lips become easily chapped. The chapping further reduces the moisture retention capacity and this vicious circle results in the problem becoming chronic and increasingly severe Avoid licking your lips.

Saliva evaporates rapidly and digests the slim membrane protecting lips, leaving lips drier than before you licked them. Because sunlight vulnerability can dry and blow the rind, take a lip ointment or salve containing sunscreen to defend the lips from detrimental rays. Medical care should be sought if symptoms continue without advance. Your doctor may select to dictate antibiotics or may regard prescription handling for dermatitis.

Primary Causes of Chapped Lips

Exposure to the seasonal elements - Dry air, wind, sun and/or cold temperatures can wreck havoc on sensitive, unprotected lip tissue.

Contact dermatitis should be considered and may be stemming from allergies and/or topical irritation.
Medications could be a factor. Suspect any newly started medications as the potential source of irritation.
Signs and symptoms of chapped lips
Your lips may be:
· Dry
· Red
· Cracked
· Peeling

Treatment of Chapped Lip

Some common treatment of Chapped Lip :

Apply lip balm or petroleum jelly. You can also try coating your lips with skin moisturizer, vitamin E oil or aloe vera gel. These greasy products help keep your lips properly moisturized.

Drink plenty of water to prevent dehydration.

Keep in mind that cracks at the corners of your mouth can indicate riboflavin deficiencies; you can treat this with vitamin B-2 supplements.

Use a humidifier to moisturize the air in your home, helping to prevent both dry lips and skin.

Use an oil-based lubricating cream, such as Aquaphor Healing Ointment, or lip balm containing petrolatum or beeswax.

Choose a lip cream or balm that contains sunscreen. Sun exposure contributes to chapped lips.

Treat chaffed, chapped and scaling lips overnight with a homemade ointment mixed from 1 tsp glycerine, 1 tsp lemon juice and 1 tsp castor oil. Spread on lips overnight, refrigerating the leftovers for future use.

Add humidifier(s) to your home. Lips, hair, nails and skin all thrive in humidified air.

Add a coat, when you wear a coat - Keep lips shielded against the elements with a coat of petroleum jelly, balm (non flavored, without phenol or camphor) or Aquaphor ointment (a celebrity favorite).

Seal in the moisture. Right after the compress, apply a thick coat of an emollient ointment like Vaseline or a lip balm containing waxes or lanolin to hold the moisture in.

Step up to cortisone. If a week of compresses and emollients don't do the trick, you can add over-the-counter 1 percent hydrocortisone ointment to your regimen. Use the hydrocortisone under your emollient ointment. Try this for two weeks.

How to Build An Attractive Muscular Body

You need to have a solid commitment and knowledge to get nice muscle tone and build an attractive muscular body. Here are some muscle building tips. Before you commence weight training, remember to warm up and as well as doing some stretching exercises.

•Train Muscle With Free Weights

Machines will have its uses, but for a start, concentrate on free weights. That means work almost exclusively with barbells and dumb bells. Free weights recruit many stabilizing muscles for balance and control. That means you will work a lot more muscle parts other than the intended ones. That will give rise to little bumps, striations and definitions all over your body instead of one huge lump of muscle on your intended muscle. Because of the extra stimulant created, your muscles grow faster too. Why else do you think all professional body builders almost exclusively use free weights?

•Train With Compound Exercises

Incorporate as many compound exercises as possible to your routines. Compound exercises are exercises that involve 2 or more joint movements. Because they utilize more joints, which means greater muscle mass are involved. Greater muscle mass means heavier weights. Heavier weights mean encouragement of greater muscle growth. More muscle growth means more tone to your muscles.
Some excellent compound exercises are the Squat, Deadlift, Chin ups, Dips, Bench press, Barbell Press, Lunges, Bent-Over Barbell Row...etc.

•Train Intensively But Do Not Over train

You must train intensively for your muscle to grow. Try to do more reps or add more weight than the previous session or else your muscles will think (actually muscles don't think, they adapt), "Ah... we've done that. Nothing new, so no need to grow bigger and stronger." That being the case, you will wreck your chances of attaining an attractive muscular body.

Because of this, it is important that every time you train hard, you give your body time to recover as it has suffered strains and actually sustained many small scarring. Contrary to popular belief, your muscles grow when you rest, especially when you sleep and not in the gym. So sleep at least 8 hours a day. Also, do not train everyday or work the same muscle group more than once or twice a week. If your training was vigorous enough, do no more than an hour per session.

Try not to do cardio work on the same day as your weight lifting work. In fact, during the muscle building phase, you should do less cardio work as aerobic exercises burn muscles. You can increase your cardio work at cutting body fat phase, so as to lose body fat in order for your muscle tone to show up nicely.

•Technique And Form

This is the most neglected fundamental of bodybuilding. Everywhere, everyday, you will see people using wrong forms and techniques. This not only compromises your growth, it will also make you susceptible to injuries... sometimes even permanently putting you out of the gym.

Wrong form occurs usually when people try to lift weights that are too heavy, whether out of vanity or ignorance. As a guide, always lift with strict focus on the muscle you intend to build for that exercise. Feel it contract and extend. Lift the weights deliberately and slowly. Never ever swing your weights up especially when doing bicep curls or the military press.

•To Build Muscles Fast You Must Perform Lower Body Exercises!

This is what most people don't realize. Your lower body makes up 60-70% of your musculature. If you don't train them, not only will you look spider-legged, your entire body will not grow as quickly and as large.

Don't think that you can hide those skinny limbs in pants! Most people do not train their legs because squats, dead lifts and lunges can be very grueling exercises. But it is precisely because of such intensity that you will produce more growth hormones when you sleep and overall muscular development is stimulated. Your body shape will also be more balanced and therefore more attractive.

Do read up more to understand how your muscles work and then work on it so that in no time you will be a proud owner of a well tone attractive muscular body.

7 Tips to Eliminate Paper and Electronic Clutter

1) Don't bring it in the house or office in the first place.

I do a quick elimination at the mail box. If it's junk mail, advertisements, etc I note the ones I am interested in and toss the rest. The ones I am interested in, I look at on-line.

2) Once in the office, sort into three boxes/containers: TODAY, This week, later.

Once sorted in my time-sensitive boxes, I can prioritize my time appropriately.

3) Release the need for paper.

Acknowledge that everything is currently available remotely through the internet. There's always ways to replace or get another copy.

  • There same ads are normally on the store's website.

  • The magazine/newspaper/newsletter often have on-line version.

  • You can easily get replacement receipts and bank statements.

Revisit your real need for the paper trail. If it is an imaginary dependency, then toss it and discontinue the paper subscription. Continuely ask yourself “What's the worst that can happen if I threw this away? Isn’t there a way to retrieve this if and when I really needed it?”

4) Take on an On-Demand and Abundance mentality.

Instead of cursing the abundance of email and post mail, appreciate and use that knowledge. Realize that even better information will continually come to you.  Therefore, you never need to save something “just in case you need it in the future”.  There will always be an abundance of information exactly when you need it.  If you haven't read or used it within a month, it is now obsolete.  Toss it. Release the old to make room for the better.

5) Create email Message-Rules

Setting up Message-Rules allows you to presort your email, even before you see it. Investigate your mailer for the feature "Create Message Rules".  Create different email folders and message rules for different subscriptions, subject lines, sender or from names, and topic headers.

6) Time-sensitize your in-box with "TODAY", "This week", "Later" action intentions.

Flag the items you need to “take action today” using your email message flag feature. Items that you can deal with later move to your email LATER folder. The only thing in your inbox should be things you need to deal with today or this week. Everything else is placed in its proper folder.  If stays in your LATER box over a month, delete it.

7) Block time to review your email.

Don't interrupt your day every time an email, a phone call, or an instant message comes in. Allow your mail-rules, voice mail, and do-not-disturb features to do their job. Create automatic responders to initially respond to incoming email (i.e. announcing that you have received their email, that you need some time to review, and that you will have a quality response within 2 business days.  If it is an emergency, ask them to call you.)

Scheduling a block of time to handle the accumulated requested (instead of being interrupt driven) is a more effective use of time.

#corelife entry 5- Relax your muscles the natural way

5. Sure, muscle relaxants are good when you're in severe  pain, but who wants to walk around like a zombie all the time? (Don't answer that!) But there is  a natural way to gently relax muscles. Quinine, generally given to combat malaria, also relaxes muscles. And the best part? It's available in tonic water (regular and diet) and bitter lemon, both of which you might have left over as mixers from your last party. A glass of tonic water before bed can help you relax into your sleep.

#corelife entry 4- Cultivate Happiness

Whatever makes you happy, do it (unless grisly murders make you grin-then consider your unhappiness a sacrifice for society's sake). Why? Because Happiness has a strong correlation to health. No one seems to know quite why this is so, but studies show over and over that it is.

#corelife entry 2- Meditate to Elevate

2. take a 5-minute respite from the daily grind by meditating. Here's how: Put on some soothing music or a CD of nature sounds (ocean waves, gentle rain). Sit in a comfortable chair, shut your eyes, and visualize a peaceful place where you'd love to be, or think about a favorite inspirational verse. Inhale slowly and deeply for two counts. If your mind drifts, follow your thoughts and gently redirect them to your peaceful place or verse.

Another option: With eyes closed, sit quietly and hold a small stone or seashell in one palm. Run your fingers slowly over the object, feeling its texture and shape. As you do this, picture the object in your mind's eye. Empty your mind of any other thoughts until you are concentrating only on what's in your hand.

HATERS... What is means to HATE...

There are haters around us in many forms. Sometimes we are able to identify them but sometimes we are not. But if we develop the mentality that haters are in fact our admirers, it would cause no harm. ‘Hating is the sincerest from of flattery “says a proverb. There are various reasons to hate a person and at times, haters do not have a reason at all to hate others. They do it just for the sake of hating others. But hating a certain name only gives them fame. Whether a person loves you or hates you, you are in their minds. But haters only hate the things that they can’t get and the people they can’t be. So, it is only an expression of adoration they have for you. In fact, when someone hates you, it gives a sense of motivation to achieve more in life and stand upright in front of them. Therefore, do not hate your haters.

How To Overcome Procrastination

Procrastination is unfortunately something that a lot of us suffer from regularly, whether it's just an occasional ‘put off ‘til tomorrow' or a recurrent lack of drive and motivation. Procrastination can often hold us back from what we really want in life, and unfortunately, it's something that can crop up at any time of life, no matter who you are. A lot of people often assume that procrastination is simply being lazy, but this isn't always the case. Often, feelings of tiredness, hopelessness, panic or even depression can cause us to put things off and avoid reality completely.

Procrastination is a trap, and once we've fallen in it can be very difficult to get back out, so why do we do it? Well for many people, procrastination is simply a way of coping with emotions and physical symptoms that often come with depression, often caused by panic. The unfortunate truth is that often, a ‘snowballing' effect can happen, you may be stressed and under pressure at work, then causing you to panic, which may then trigger depression which in turn can make thing very difficult for you to do. However it happened, it's important you get out of it, otherwise you may find that nothing will ever get done because you're too miserable and negative to bring yourself to do it.

There are 5 main ‘style's of procrastination, you may feel that you fall under one mains style, or a mixture.

  • Organization and keeping track of things is very difficult
  • You fear people disapprove of you, or fear disapproval itself
  • Important tasks seem futile, and so overwhelming it feels stupid to even attempt them
  • Hostile feelings towards someone, and punishing them by putting things off
  • Routines and Schedules cause you to feel rebellious

These styles of procrastination can often also overlap in one of four different themes: Self Doubt, Discomfort Dodging, Guilt Driven and Habitual. Self Doubt is people who feel that there are rigid standards about how certain things need to be done and often fear they will fail, they often second guess themselves and will delay taking action against procrastinating. Discomfort dodging is when a person will avoid activities that will cause them anxiety, discomfort or even distress, however, often by dodging the activity, feelings and tension don't go away, and instead mount due to the avoidance. Guilt driven people often feel extreme guilt when tasks go done, but instead of acting on their guilt and working, they instead procrastinate, avoiding the issue and the guilt completely. And finally, Habitual people are people who have found procrastination to be an automatic response within their lives, they have put things off so often, that they feel it is just a part of them now, and there is nothing they can do to change it.

But there are things you can do to change it, and get out of your procrastination cycle once and for all. The first thing is a simple idea, but it works all the same – make a list! It sounds ridiculous, but it does actually work. Just go to your local stationary store and get yourself a large notebook, and make lists and plans for yourself to stick to, prioritize everything on your list in order of importance, and allocate times for these tasks to be done (1 hour, 2 hours etc). The key to battling procrastination is organization, by allocating specific times; you're ensuring that you have enough time to do everything and get it done! If a task is particularly big, then split it up into manageable time slots, making sure that progress is steady, and you're not giving yourself too much to do.

However, you also need to create some time for yourself, or ‘reward time'. Reward time gives you an incentive to get things done, because you know once it's done you can have a break and reward yourself for your hard work. Procrastination is a tough mountain to climb, but once you reach the top you're free to reap the rewards of an organized, healthy and happy lifestyle, as well as the true relief and satisfaction that comes with having nothing weighing you down!

Authenticity - Why people arent' themselves and what that costs them

Why should you be yourself? The simple answer is 'because everyone else is taken' - it's both the simple answer and an accurate answer. The important question is 'why are we not ourselves?' What is the pay off for not being ourselves? Ahhh, now we're talking.

To begin with, what would cause us to not want to be ourselves? For some of us, we may have been raised in environments where it was dangerous to be who we are. Even as adults we may be working in environments that demand that we be other than who we are in order to ensure job security. So we conclude, I have to be other than I am to get what I want i.e. love, safety, income etc.

We may have learned to believe 'who I am is not good enough to be loved, guaranteed safety, approved of'. We may have been told 'who you are is not worth treating well'. We may have learned 'who you are is not good enough to meet my standards for 'being good enough'. We may become convinced that we are less than we should be.

When we feel not good enough what happens to our lives? We end up putting things on hold until we feel we 'deserve' by becoming good enough. We spend so much time striving to feel that we're good enough. Have I accomplished enough, am I good looking enough, is my car big/fast/exclusive enough, is my job title high enough, do I have enough awards to be good enough? Exhausting isn't it?

Self worth and authenticity are intrinsically linked. The worth we have in our own eyes, a sense of worth not built on acquisition, job title, appearance, credentials - is the only worth, worth living out of. How many of us realise that we have an intrinsic worth greater than anything on the outside? If we go through life with a sense of being deficient then we are motivated to acquire value - the things that others value in the world then become our aim in life. I may not be good enough in and of myself but look what I've got, becomes our calling card.

Sooner or later, things fall apart, if we're lucky. It can take many forms e.g we can lose everything we spent our whole lives accruing or we meet someone or a situation who places no value on our 'social bling'. We run helter skelter trying to get them to 'see' us as our bling or we go somewhere else. But there's a crack in the tea cup. When it finally breaks open, our break down becomes our breakthrough.

We begin to look for another way. What we've been looking for is a way to feel good about who we are, under all circumstance. We don't always realise it at first since there's much howling in pain and hanging onto fast disappearing 'bling'.

The breakthrough cracks us wide open and everything we've been taught is 'wrong' with us, all the things we've been taught make us 'not good enough' stare us in the face. Excruciating at first but if we stay, refuse to take flight, we can transform. Now begins the re-acquainting ourselves with the 'real' us, all of it.

There are many transformation technologies from journaling, meditation, prayer, walking, body work, sound, vibrational healing. We tend to gravitate towards one that works for us. Soon the pain subsides, loses its edge. We don't feel so raw. Our lives may be in shambles around us but we can stand to be alive and increasingly we can stand to be ourselves. We live in a time of infinite help with wonderful teachers who can assist us in moving out of our debris; emotional, psychological and spiritual.

Not being who we are, may be something we picked up at our beginning but was never a part of our being and we need not continue with it.

Positive Thinking And Its Effect On Your Health

The first situation to consider is the relationship between thoughts and conditions like depression and stress. A crucial question is whether the person's thoughts are creating the physical depression or the physical depression is creating the negative thinking. When it comes to how you can use your mind to help, this can be accomplished consciously and subconsciously. When someone has a habit of imagining things turning out very badly, rational thinking can show show them that they often exaggerate. However, the unconscious mind is much more powerful in shaping our habitual behavior, oftentimes beyond our conscious control. Visualization and hypnosis can be very effective in modifying beliefs and, if you do this, the long-lasting effects can be more powerful than using logic only.

It is likewise true that positive thinking can have an impact on our physical health, and you may be aware of the placebo effect on people who feel ill. This is when individuals are given a pill which in reality does not have any healing value, and yet they claim to notice an improvement in how they feel. This is evidence of the connection between mind and body, and there are many examples of men and women with a positive outlook being able to recover faster from malady and injury. You can also use the power of your mind to help you in achieving your fitness goals. A historic example of this is when the four minute barrier for running the mile was broken, which had been considered as unachievable up to that point. Once the "barrier" had been broken, other runners also began to break through what had really been a barrier of belief.

The effects of aging are likewise influenced by how we think about the process. As you get older, do you talk to your friends about your "aches and pains" and your weakened capabilities? It seems there's a great deal of truth to the saying, "You're only as old as you think you are," and our thoughts can be used to undo a lot of the so-called effects of aging. Unfortunately, numerous individuals will continue to hold on to old beliefs about the unavoidable "decline" of health in old age, and not pay attention to the benefits of a positive outlook.

Now that you are aware that your attitude can bring you a much better state of health, it's up to you to take advantage of this information and set your intention to think positive thoughts whenever you remember.

Learn to Forgive Yourself and Others

At some point in our lives, all of us have been wronged by another person and felt hurt, angry or resentful. This is a natural reaction and part of being human. However, if we do not resolve or come to terms with these hurts, they drive our actions and create a negative way of life. By harboring past hurts, we have the potential to do far more harm to ourselves than anyone else can possibly do.

All illness is caused by not forgiving.

Forgiving others or yourself does not mean forgetting or condoning what happened, or giving up the values that were violated or assuming you are at fault; nor is it condemning the other person or seeking justice or compensation. Forgiveness can be viewed as foregoing the resentment or revenge when the wrongdoers action deserves it and giving the gifts of mercy, generosity and love when the wrongdoer does not seem to deserve them. To release the shackles of the past, we must be willing to forgive.

Forgiveness is about creating a state "for giving"  both to self and others and excusing a mistake or an offense and letting go of the associated hurt, anger or resentment. Because forgiveness has the greatest benefit to the person doing the forgiving, it is one of the greatest gifts that you can give to yourself.

Forgiving allows us to get on with our lives and to open up our minds and hearts to new ways of seeing others, the world and ourselves. It releases energy that can be used for other, more productive thoughts and actions.
